AI code review for Bitbucket, and why so few tools support it
Most AI code reviewers are GitHub-only. If your team is on Bitbucket Cloud, here is what is actually available, and how Pullora's Bitbucket support works.
If you evaluate AI code review tools while working on Bitbucket, the experience is repetitive: read the landing page, get interested, find the integrations section, discover it is GitHub-only.
Greptile has no Bitbucket support — not Cloud, not Server, not Data Center. Cursor's Bugbot works only with GitHub. The category grew up around GitHub because that is where the open-source code and the early adopters were.
Why the gap exists
GitHub has an App model: install once, receive short-lived per-repository tokens, subscribe to webhooks, post review comments through a well-documented API. It is genuinely pleasant to build against.
Bitbucket's equivalents are different enough that supporting it is not a weekend port. Its API removed workspace discovery, so a tool has to ask the user which workspace to sync before the OAuth flow even starts. Its pull request and comment models differ from GitHub's, and its diff format needs separate handling.
None of that is hard. It is just work that a GitHub-first product has no reason to do until customers ask, and Bitbucket customers rarely get far enough to ask.
How Pullora handles it
One review engine sits behind all four providers. The diff parser, context builder, validation pass, deduplication and confidence gating are identical whether the pull request is on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or Azure DevOps. Only the provider adapter differs — fetching the diff, posting comments, verifying webhooks.
That means Bitbucket users get the same review, not a reduced one. Inline comments with severity and confidence, dry-run mode, incremental re-reviews on new commits, and repository policy in a committed .ai-review.yml all work the same way.
Connecting it
You will be asked for your workspace name before authorising — that is the API limitation above, not a design choice. It is the segment in any repository URL: bitbucket.org/your-workspace/your-repo. After that it is a standard OAuth authorisation and your repositories sync automatically.
